animagic you are either pretty new to this or are misleading people deliberately either way it is not helping. Subdivision is something that can be done multiple ways either realtime, offline, on CPU on GPU etc. Doing subdivision on GPU as you suggest is not a prefered workflow and has too many downsides. And it definitely doesn't solve the issue of having the same mesh on both sides of the pipeline. This needs to be fixed ASAP or I may be just returing my purchase after 14 days. Kind of shocked to see such an issue. And it is quite telling that me being here VOTING and COMMENTING after using the software for just under an hour after purchase. If that doesn't tell you how critical this is then nothing will.
You all wasted your votes. Subdivision is done through the GPU so it is not something that can be exported. However, you can do the same in UE4. See Rampa's post in the original thread: https://forum.reallusion.com/459393/NO-subdivisions-on-export .
Export to Unreal needs to be exactly the level of subdivision seen in Character Creator or iClone. It's possible to make beautiful characters in these programs, characters that look smooth and professional, but due to the export limitations, all that hard work is lost in Unreal. The characters look choppy and unacceptable for professional animation. It's extremely frustrating that when sending a Reallusion character to Unreal, you are given the choice of quality, but the highest level of export quality is much lower in quality than you see in Character Creator. It should have been made clear in Reallusion's sales material that Character Creator does not export at the same level of subdivision that you see in Character Creator. Considering the expense of the programs and how they are presented as a pipeline to Unreal Engine, I am very disappointed. Just look at the date that this issue was posted here (January 2020). It's October and this issue hasn't been resolved. Someone should make YouTube review videos warning people who are considering purchasing Reallusion products for use in Unreal Engine for animation to save their money until this issue is (hopefully) fixed.
Since CC/iClone are now vying to be professional, industry apps, they really need to allow you to export ANYTHING that can be done IN the program. If there's a subdivide button, well let us export that. You do a nice job subdiving, so why not let us utilize it???
I wonder whether they do not want to have this feature
